Wireless Tooth Tattoo To Detect Harmful Bacteria In The Mouth
If only there was a way to know that decay-causing bacteria were present in the mouth…
This idea may have inspired a group of researchers at Princeton University to develop a device that can detect the presence of harmful bacteria in the mouth.
The device comes in the form of a wireless tattoo made of silk strands from cocoons and thin gold wires. The “tatooth” can be applied like a child’s temporary tattoo to a tooth’s enamel. The tattoo has a biosensor that is able to detect minute amounts of bacteria. Once bacteria are detected, the sensor passes a signal to a nearby receiver.
