Clean Your Toothbrush Holder

Yesterday we shared a study revealing the humble toothbrush holder as the third germiest household item, next to the dish sponge and kitchen counter top.

Here’s another reason why you should ensure you include the toothbrush holder in your list of must-clean items: in a study late last year, scientists discovered a new species of bacterium lurking on a toothbrush holder.

The bacterium, according to microbiologists, is a member of the same family as the E.coli bacterium, which is typically found in human intestines and faecal matter.

This discovery is an important reminder to properly clean and sanitize household items in order to prevent germs from growing. Read more about the study here.
