Dental Health Week 2014: Tongue Cleaning
It is not enough to teach your children how to brush and floss properly. It is also important to teach them how to clean their tongues.
Remember that about 50% of bacteria in the mouth are found on the surface of our tongues. These are the bacteria that usually cause the foul odour in the mouth.
How can your children get rid of these bacteria? The Australian Dental Association suggests scraping them off.
“Your kids may think it sounds yucky but, when they’re enjoying the benefits of a clean tongue and lively tastebuds, they’ll soon realise it’s not so bad after all.”
You can teach your children to use their toothbrush to clean their tongue or a spoon to gently scrape away those germs.
