The Importance of Properly Fitted Mouthguards
There are several different types of mouthguards available in the marketplace today and we’ve outlined these here. The best mouthguard is always going to be one that is custom fitted.
Dental injuries that occur as a result of not wearing a custom-fitted mouthguard can be painful, disfiguring and expensive to treat. Some of these injuries can include:
- cut lips
- cut gums
- cut cheeks
- cuts to the tongue or face
- chipped teeth
- broken teeth
- knocked out teeth
- broken jaw
Treatment times for such injuries can be lengthy, meaning a need to take time off work or school. The cost of treatment can also be significant.
Who wants to have to deal with these kinds of injuries and their associated issues when they can be prevented by simply wearing a mouthguard that fits your mouth properly?
So, while it may be a little more expensive to purchase a custom-fitted mouthguard, ultimately this cost is far less than price tag associated with an injury to your teeth or jaw.
