Sealants To Prevent Early Childhood Caries

Dental caries or tooth decay is a condition that is unfortunately common among children but the good news is, it can be prevented. An investigation of one of the ways to prevent tooth decay was carried out by a group of researchers in France.

In a randomised clinical trial, 276 pupils participated in a study where one group received resin-based dental sealant while the other group received no treatment . After one year of follow-up, those who received sealants were at less risk of developing tooth decay.

Fissure sealants are a procedure that is highly recommended by the Australian Dental Association.
