Healthy Canberra September 2015

Healthy Canberra: Events in September 2015

It’s the end of the month, which means it’s time for our roundup of health-related observances in the coming month of September.

As always, we here at Corinna Dental Group not only look after your oral health but we also promote overall wellness. That is why we’d like to raise awareness about health-related activities happening next month, encouraging you to take part and to spread the word in whichever way you can.

Below are the list of observances as we welcome Spring.

1-30 September: Blue September

Blue September is an annual and nationwide awareness and fundraising initiative for men’s cancer, supporting Australian Prostate Cancer Research and The Australian Cancer Research Foundation. It aims to raise awareness amongst all Australians about cancers affecting men, and urges men to take preventative action by improving their lifestyle choices. This monthlong observance is also about encouraging people to make a donation for cancer research, to help find a cure for the disease that affects so many Australian men.

1-30 September: Dementia Awareness Month

Every year in September, Alzheimer’s Australia educates the public to have a better understanding of what it is like for a person to live with dementia, and ultimately be encouraged to create communities where people with dementia are supported to live a high quality of life with meaning, purpose and value.

World Alzhemier’s Day is observed every 21st day of September.
