Health Events Around Canberra in July 2015
Canberra is a city where there’s always something going on in the realm of health. Here’s what’s happening this coming month of July:
- 3 July — Bravehearts 777 Marathon; Commonwealth Place, Canberra
The Bravehearts 777 features 7 marathons in 7 states in 7 days. Marathon No. 5 happens in Commonwealth Place in Canberra on July 3rd. This is a fundraising event aiming to raise money to help educate, empower and protect Australian children against sexual assault - 5 July — Cancer Council ACT Canada Day Fun Run; Stromlo Forest Park, Canberra
A yearly run/walk event to raise funds for Cancer Research, this money raised from this event will fund vital research, prevention programs and support services to residents in the ACT. - 6-12 July — Sleep Awareness Week
Sleep Awareness Week is a yearly community education and awareness campaign to promote the importance of sleep as a fundamental pillar of good health. - 7 July — Mt Ainslie Run Up; Remembrance Park, Canberra
Presented by Australian Mountain Running Association, the Mt Ainslie Run Up is held every first Tuesday of the month. No entrance fees—all you need to do is turn up and run! - 12-18 July — Diabetes Awareness Week
Do you have a loved one who has Diabetes? This is a perfect time to address the issues of those who have the disease. - 28 July — World Hepatitis Day
“Despite the safe and highly effective hepatitis B vaccine being part of the infant immunisation schedule in Australia, many of those at higher risk of infection remain unvaccinated and therefore vulnerable to infection.” An important fact as we observe World Hepatitis Day on the 28th of July.
