Children's Perspective on Dentist's Attire

Children’s Perspective on Dentist’s Attire

A big focus of a paediatric dentist (or any dental professional who works with children) is to make a child feel comfortable during dental visits. A recent study shows that the manner in which a dentist presents him/herself can influence this.

Around 619 children aged 6-14 were given a questionnaire to evaluate their preferences towards their dentist’s attire and results show that most of these children preferred the dentist to wear the traditional white coat with a name badge. Plain masks and white gloves were also widely accepted; however, they disliked protective eyewear and head caps.
