Braces and Healthy Eating
One of the challenges orthodontics patients face is avoiding foods that are hard to chew. These foods include fruits and vegetables, which provide important nutrients to the body. Since people with braces have to be mindful of what they eat, more often than not, they consume less proteins and other key nutrients that are present in the food they avoid.
In a study of 50 orthodontic patients in India, researchers concluded that is possible to eat “more healthily with braces since one now has to watch what he/she is eating’. Researchers also presented a list of braces-friendly balanced diet.
