What's In Your Child's Lunchbox This Year?

Back To School Tips For Healthy Teeth

We wish all school students a very happy start to the 2013 school year! Yesterday saw all new students of Government Schools begin their learning journey, and today all returning students start their year.

Today is a great day to think about school lunches.

What kids eat in school is as important as what parents serve at home.  A nutritious diet is important not only for the wellbeing of a child but also for their dental and oral health. That is why it is important that school canteens offer nutritious options, and why we need to encourage our children to make sensible choices about what they buy at the canteen.

The Academy of General Dentistry suggests parents check on their child’s school lunch program. If the school doesn’t offer healthy alternatives, try packing bite-sized vegetables and cheese chunks, fruits and other naturally sweetened foods. Don’t forget the water!
