If you are nervous about having Dental Treatment, Sleep Dentistry may be just what you’re looking for…
The Corinna Dental Practice in Woden is one of the few practices in ACT offering Sleep Dentistry, also known as IV Sedation. IV Sedation is a technique which can minimise the anxiety or fear that a person might usually experience about dental treatment. It is suitable for most patients: however, before you undergo sleep dentistry, your dentist will need to review your medical history and current status to ensure that the treatment is right for you.
Sleep Dentistry Is Also Called IV or Intravenous Sedation
The technique involves the injection of small amounts of sedative into a vein in the arm. The patient becomes relaxed and drowsy and dental treatment can then be carried out without the patient being aware of what is happening. Because of the amnesia (forgetfulness) and drowsiness produced by the sedative agents, the patients will need to be escorted home and taken care of by a suitable adult.
It is important to note that any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
